My research on the Landschaft family
Through Jewish Gen and Jri Poland, I was able to trace the generations of the Landschaft.
I recently joined the CRARG (Czeestochowa-Radomsko region research center) where I received archival confirmation of my initial empirical research.
Some survivors were able to provide me with the names of their uncles and aunts, without the dates.
The information collected by CRARG places the Landschaft family in the Wadzislaw archives. The first reference dates from 1823.
I identified a Majer Landszaft, who died in 1829 at the age of 48. Then a Mosiek-Iser, who died in 1850 at the age of 37. Given the strong presence of surnames in our family, and among Ashkenazim more generally, the lineage became easy to establish.
The earliest ancestor of the Landschaft lineage that I have found is:
-
Iser Landschaft, certainly born around 1760, married to Laja Gastrandow, he is described as a "tenant." It can be assumed that he was in the service of the nobleman who owned the land where he lived. He is recorded as the father of
-
Majer Landschaft (1781-1829). He died at the age of 48. His wife's name is not given, but her profession is specified: hatter! He had a brother, Wulff Landszaft, who died on May 31, 1845. His wife, Hana, was 50 years old when her husband died. He must have been born after Majer.
-
His son, Moszek-Isser (1813-April 17, 1850), married Hudes Kornbrunnow (1820-November 15, 1848). He died at the age of 37, two years after his wife. I think they only had time to have one child, who was named after his deceased grandfather. He is described as a laborer. There is no indication of the causes of their deaths, which occurred two years apart!
-
Their son, Majer Landschaft (1844-1919), married Ruchla Zaks (1847-?). I don't know Ruchla's date of death, but she cared for her grandson, Mayer-Ber, after the deaths of her daughter and husband. She would therefore have died after 1920.
My great-grandparents had eleven children in 26 years: my grandmother was born in 1893, she was the last one.
The first one was born in 1867.
