On my father's uncles' and aunts' side

My father remembered the names of his nine uncles and aunts on his mother's side, but not on his father's side.

That has always intrigued me.

1- Chudès-Gitla Landszaft (22/01/ 1867- ?) married Itzick Kraziniecki (1862-?) in Zamowiec in 1885.

They had four children recorded in the Wodzislaw archives:

  • PerlaKraziniecki (1889- ?) married Gresz Spiro in 1912.

  • Jakow Kraziniecki (3/08/1896-?). Him too: no information.

  • Abela Kraziniecki (17/10/1899- ?): no information.

  • Wulf Kraziniecki (June 6, 1901). Wulf supposedly left for Argentina before the Holocaust. I haven't been able to find him.

2- Moszek-Isser Landszaft (1868-1942) married, for the first time, Léa-Ryfka Woznika (1870-?) in 1890.

He was a merchant in Miechow.

Two children listed in the Wodzislaw archives

  • Schmuel Landszaft (4/01/1894-1943) married to Kashia Poslusny (1898-1942)

  • Haim Landszaft (14/12/1898-1942) married in 1924 in Krakow to Liebe Stiel: two children

* Zigmund (1925-2025), our cousin Ziggy, married to Renia Cuckierman (post-war): they will have 3 daughters: Leah, Caroline and Jacqualine.

* Major Landszaft (1927-1945).

We know that Haim's family lived in the Krakow region, in Chorzow, known during the German period as Konigshutte. They returned to Poland between 1922 and 1939.

2-bis Moszek-Isser remarried Fajgla Levkowitz (1885-1942).

They will have 4 children

  •   Chana Landszaft (1911-1942);

  •   Pessel Landszaft (1912-1942);

  •   Kopel Landszaft (1919-1977). His birthplace is sometimes listed as Sosnowiec (15 km from Chorzow), sometimes as Ksiaz Wielki (north of Wodzislaw). He married Rosa/Rouja Wenchadlowska (1920-1982) in 1947; they had a daughter, Zahava, our closest cousin.

  •   Itzick Landszaft (1926-1942)

3 - Chaim-Szmul Landszaft born on 26/02/1871. This child, unknown to us and even to my father, died at 18 months old, on February 5, 1872. This may perhaps explain my father's first name, Szmul.

My dive into the Wodzislaw archives allowed me to find the birth certificates of my grandmother Perla's other brothers and sisters.

4- Mechele-Mendel Landschaft (1875-1942) married Haja Szifra Waintraub (1880-1942): they had at least 4 children

5- Blima Landschaft (13/11/1877-1942) married Moszek Lieber on 4/09/1903 in the Wodzislaw register. This was the civil marriage, as the religious marriage must have taken place in 1892 or 1893, since a daughter was born in 1894.

According to my father, when his mother died(1919), he was taken in by his aunt Blima, who lived near Miechow. They had a mil where they ground warious foods into  flour.

The Kraziniecki family are believed to be in Argentina.

Yoel Posluzny reportedly left Poland after the war to live in Haifa.

Yossele Bialokaminski, after being in the USSR during the war, then returning to Poland, lives in a moshav not far from Gedera. My parents met him.

I don't know much about the children of Chudes-Gitla, Chana Pesla and Sara.
